Infineon Collaborates With Neutron Controls To Unveil An Advanced Battery Management Platform

Neutron Controls, a leading design house for Infineon, is proud to introduce its ECU8 system platform, a groundbreaking solution that empowers the accelerated development of Battery Management Systems (BMS) based on Infineon chipsets. This remarkable offering signifies a significant leap forward for Neutron Controls and its clients in the realm of design services. With the ECU8 system platform, they can dramatically streamline the development process by having access to a comprehensive hardware and software solution for a battery management unit, all built upon a robust ASIL-D, ISO26262 foundation.

The ECU8 energy control unit is a marvel of engineering, comprising Neutron Control’s proprietary microcontroller module that features the AURIX TC3xx and TC4xx, the TLF35584 Hypersonic PMIC, the TLE9015 ISO UART Transceiver, and the TLE9012 ISO UART Battery Interface Card. ECU8 proudly joins the illustrious ranks of Neutron Control’s Rapid Engineering Development (RED) platform family, a collection of versatile platforms meticulously designed to accelerate software development, prototyping, and product development.

The ECU8 platform exhibits remarkable compatibility with lithium-ion battery cells, allowing for the monitoring of up to 12 cells individually per module. By combining up to 20 of these modules, the platform boasts the capability to support batteries of up to 1000 V. Communication interfaces are abundant within the ECU8, offering iso-UART and iso-SPI for Ring Mode, dual Ethernet ports, and triple CAN-FD ports. Additionally, it provides high-side and low-side drivers for external contactors. On the software front, low-level drivers are meticulously implemented for the various components within the AURIX TC3x TriCore architecture. Furthermore, the ECU8 system platform offers the flexibility to integrate state-of-charge (SoC) and state-of-health (SoH) calculations seamlessly.

Neutron Controls is your trusted partner for engineering design services, specializing in the development of reliable, high-performance systems for battery management across a broad spectrum of applications, including automotive, commercial, and off-highway electric vehicles. Headquartered in Ottawa, Canada, Neutron Controls has rapidly expanded its footprint beyond North America, penetrating international markets in Europe and Asia. This expansion has enabled Neutron Controls to work closely with automotive OEMs and secure representation within the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
